WFOG was established in May 2004 by Stephen Sandler & Daryl Herbert primarily to try to obtain an NHS contract with the local NHS primary care trust in order to provide osteopathic services to people in Waltham Forest. As a secondary by-product continuing professional development lectures, talks and discussion evenings emerged as a very regular activity. The group now meets every month for lecture evenings and talks from medical & osteopathic specialists as well as other interesting and relevant speakers, including practical and discussion sessions where members can share knowledge supporting each other.
The WFOG website is intended to provide a calendar with events dates, for evening talks, discussion & practical sessions including meetings such as AGM's. Included will be resources and information of previous presenters, presenter's slide presentations and suppliers of goods for use within osteopathic practice. The final reason for the website was for a forum and chat pages to allow members only to discuss relevant matters, patient problems and other issues for the membership to chat about. It is our hope that the website, chat and forum pages will be used professionally and with sensible and mature discussion.
Access to the WFOG website, forum, events and other pages is strictly for members of the WFOG only. Membership can be for any osteopath local or not, an annual fee of £25 is currently levied.
